Dolcetto Rosato 2023

$30.00

Dolcetto comes from Piedmonte, NW Italy. In 2023, the grapes were picked on March 11, specifically for our Rosato.

Made in a traditional Italian off-dry style, the juice was stop-fermented to leave some of the natural sweetness of the juice.

The summer of 2023 was full of rain and storms. One of our 100 year old pine trees blew over in the January cyclone. There was very little sun, meaning that the resulting colour of the Rosato is a light straw. But the nose is packed with fruit flavours.

The palate is rich, sweet and soft on the front, but ‘zingy’ on the finish. This is deliberate to make it refreshing and balance the natural residual sugars on the front palate. Also, like good Italian rose, it is slightly effervescent which helps it dance across the palate!

Enjoy either chilled or at room temperature, with food or on its own.

This is a unique wine.

Winemakers notes

  • Dolcetto comes from the Piedmont region, in North West Italy.

Made in a traditional Italian off-dry style, the juice was stop-fermented to leave some of the natural sweetness of the Dolcetto juice.

The colour is a vibrant/iridescent pink/light red which comes from the Dolcetto skins. It has a vibrancy which highlights an indirect blue tinge.

The nose is packed full of fruit flavours.

The palate is rich, sweet and soft on the front, but ‘zingy’ on the finish. This is deliberate, to make it refreshing – and to balance the natural residual sugars on the front palate. Also, like good Italian rosato, it is slightly effervescent which helps it dance across the palate.

Enjoy this unique wine chilled, accompanied with plates of cheeses, cold meats and other mixed antipasti.
